Comparison of Diabetes 1 and Type 2 diabetes

There are two types of diabetes; they are distinguished as for type 1 and type 2. Though a lot of people assume that type 1 diabetes is more dangerous but there is really no definite answer for this. The bottom line is, every person with diabetes is at risk if he does not know how to control it.

Both can be dangerous when a person is careless in dealing with it. Diabetes type 1 is common from childhood though of course, it is also possible that it can start in the later age. For type 2 diabetes though, it usually strikes at the later age like maybe when a person is already in his 40s.

What causes diabetes

The reason why a person has diabetes is that his body cannot produce insulin enough to convert all the sugar he has taken into energy thus a buildup of sugar will develop. Diabetes is actually not a fatal disease though it can still cause mortality if not controlled properly. The goal of a person with diabetes is to control the sugar in his body and that can be done if his body has enough insulin.

For those who have type 1 diabetes, they directly get insulin by injecting themselves with it since their body cannot really produce it. As for those with type 2 diabetes, they can also inject themselves with insulin though not necessary if they will know how to control their blood sugar through the food they eat and through working out.

A person with type 1 diabetes injects himself with insulin

It goes without saying that a person with type 1 diabetes can just eat anything he wants as he can easily control his blood sugar by the amount of insulin he will inject to himself. However, he must also be careful and must have himself educated by his doctor first. Note that high blood sugar is bad for them and so is low blood sugar. They should always be in the normal range.

A person with type 2 diabetes takes pills to control blood sugar

As for those who have type 2 diabetes, they usually take pills to control and maintain the level of their blood sugar. They also need to control their food intake and they must regularly work out. Both types of diabetes though must only have one goal, to maintain their blood sugar. Note that both types of diabetes can lead to serious complications like blindness, kidney failure and so on.
