Smart Habits to Take Care of Your Child’s Teeth

Taking care of your child’s teeth and gums are very important. Young kids are prone to cavities and tooth decay due to poor dental hygiene and eating too many sweets. It’s important for parents to teach their kids how to take care of their teeth while they are young so it will be part of their routine as they grow up and become adults.

Having tooth decay and cavities can cause several negative effects to our children such as:

  1. Gargle with mouthwash if they cannot brush their teeth

Mouthwash contains effective ingredients that are known to kill bacteria and germs that cause bad breath. It helps maintain healthy teeth and gums as well. Look for child-friendly mouthwash products in supermarkets and drugstores, and teach your kids how to gargle properly. If there is no mouthwash available, then they can gargle using just plain water.

  1. Incorporate healthy eating habits at a young age

Teach your children to eat sweets such as chocolate and candy bars in moderation. As much as possible, do not encourage them to drink juices and sodas to avoid getting stained teeth. Instead, they should focus on eating a balanced diet that consists of vegetables, the right amount of meat and carbohydrates and fruits.

This is to ensure that they get a healthier and stronger tooth that protects them from bacteria and plaque. Fluoride treatments can be given to kids as young as 3 years of age. It would also help if they use a toothpaste that is rich with fluoride.
